Senior Consultant - Gas Services

We are currently looking to recruit an ambitious and results-focused individual to join the gas services team.  This team is responsible for operating our client contracts within the GB gas market. This role is for a consultant grade or above to manage the daily operations of one of these contracts.


This is a fantastic opportunity to manage the contractual deliverables of a contract whilst looking to grow the contract into new areas.  This role is responsible for managing the performance assurance process encompassing stakeholder engagement, client coordination, managing a small team, analysing data and providing insight of the gas operations into strategic direction of the department.

Employment Type: 6 month fixed term contract with potential for the role to become permanent

Contract Basis: Part time (22.5 hours per week) although happy to consider full time for the right candidate

  • Ensure that all contract requirements are delivered to time (including annual reviews, risk register reviews and updates)
  • Team co-ordination to ensure that all deliverables are achieved, utilising the appropriate skills of each team member to maintain efficiencies
  • Build and maintain relationships with the client and industry to fulfil their needs and wishes within the boundaries of the contract
  • Monitor actions created at industry and client meetings and ensure the requirements are delivered in a timely way
  • Identify areas of development for the contract including reviewing gas codes
  • Manage data provision updates and oversee the production of reports
  • Invoice Management and creation of monthly supplementary reporting
  • Contract management
  • Responsible for the continuous improvement of internal processes/LWIs.
  • Responsible for finding and implementing innovation in the gas services team to gain efficiencies where applicable.
  • Website Management including an annual review to ensure the user experience is up to date.


The applicant should:

  • Possess a good understanding of the gas code governance arrangement, the stakeholders involved and administration protocols
  • Demonstrate an in depth understanding of UK Gas settlements, with an ability to critically analyse the arrangements, identify areas for improvement and suggest change
  • Be able to confidently work with large volumes of data, demonstrating a detailed understanding of business analytics and data validation
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of risk assessment and modelling
  • Have strong regulatory expertise, with the ability to demonstrate experience of working with regulatory documents, the frameworks within which the documents are used and the relevant governing bodies
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify relevant stakeholders, building strong networks and influence where appropriate to facilitate outcomes that further develop the appropriate regime and the Gemserv strategy
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including presentation skills – explaining complex and sometimes specialised subjects including experience of presenting to groups of all sizes
  • Be able to work confidently with a multiskilled team, seeking to both develop their own expertise as well as encourage others to develop their own
  • Strong client and stakeholder management skills - offering solutions, providing feedback and gaining trust.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills – motivating and organising themselves and reports.
  • An ability to review organisational processes, provide efficiencies and identify the use of innovative or digitised solutions.
