Security Architect

We are currently searching for a highly motivated security architect with a professional services background and expertise in digital technologies, consulting, and business development to drive the strategic and commercial growth of our digital services practice. We are looking for highly experienced candidates with capabilities in designing and assuring security architectures for clients, and providing expert cybersecurity advice both to clients and within Gemserv.

The successful candidate will also have experience in working on programmes across one or more of our target sectors. We particularly interested in speaking to candidates with backgrounds in UK or RoI Energy (especially with smart metering experience), Health, Public Sector, Low Carbon, Insurance or Transport.

The Role

This role leading will see the successful candidate leading on client engagements and internal business growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will be have leadership capability, be consulting focused, and able to work in multidisciplinary teams across the business.



  • As part of a cross-functional team, lead on the consultancy delivery on projects across our digital and cyber services.
  • Work with clients to solve their challenges, design and build fit-for-purpose solutions, often within complex organisations.
  • Identify design gaps, and develop security mitigations and enhancements to the ongoing resilience and operation of client's technical environments.
  • Ensure the alignment between client's security architecture frameworks, cyber security frameworks, and the businesses strategic objectives.
  • Act as the cyber security architecture expert, and act as the trusted advisor to Gemserv clients. Support in the development of new services to support clients, and further position Gemserv in the market.
  • Support digital transformation and on-going change initiatives within Gemserv
  • Network, build relationships and lead on the positioning of new opportunities with existing and new customers.
  • Generate engagement and leads for our services via thought leadership, including writing engaging content, webinars, social media activities and speaking at events.
  • Provide leadership to coach and mentor teams to achieve exceptional performance (commercial, client delivery and service innovation).



You must have the following skills and experience:

  • Prior professional experience in security architecture, with an understanding of how to achieve security by design and defence in depth for digital solutions and services, and their underlying technologies
  • A high-level understanding of solution design, knowledge of risk assessment, as well as vulnerability identification and mitigation.
  • Knowledge of security standards and frameworks, such as NIST, NIS CAF, ISO27001, IEC 62443.
  • Knowledge of available security controls and techniques on leading cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
  • Comfortable presenting complex information to non-expert and expert audiences as well as demonstrable experience in developing stakeholder relationships
  • Experience of managing workload and multiple priorities to meet deadlines
  • One or more recognised industrial qualifications such as CCSP, CISM, CISSP, SABSA, GIAC Security Essentials
  • Educated to graduate or post-graduate level


With the increasing adoption of IT and IOT technologies amongst CNI organisations, the following skills and experience would be desirable in a candidate:

  • Experience in Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), Industrial Control System (ICS), Operational Technology (OT) security or SCADA systems security
  • Experience in risk management, auditing, technical testing and remediation of IT  and  OT systems. 


 Successful candidates will also need:

  • A strong interest in and aptitude for developing consultancy skills in the wider Energy, Health, Public Sector, Insurance and Transport industries
  • Commercial awareness including proposing & business opportunities, identifying and managing risks to project delivery, and effectively conveying and promoting the Company's message
