The Role

As a Senior Consultant working within our growing Energy Consultancy Practice, you will be building and managing relationships with existing and new clients by providing governance, programme management and advisory services.   

You will be providing insight and expertise into short term consultancy assignments and projects, supporting business development, white papers and thought leadership activities as part of our service developments.

You must have UK Energy industry, or directly relevant, consulting experience, self-starting management skills and experience in managing complex projects with an Energy focus. If you are passionate about Energy transition and have a good understanding of one or more of the following areas, then we would love to hear from you: 

  • Energy governance frameworks
  • market policy & regulation
  • the technical landscape
  • the diverse objectives of Net Zero.

Responsibilities 

The successful candidate will demonstrate sound understanding of highly regulated yet commercial environment, within the Energy sector, which they can apply to an ongoing and various range of assignments.

Specific responsibilities to include:

• Apply UK energy (electricity and/or gas) industry knowledge around smart, code governance, market design, supplier management to a range of assignments;

• Providing insight and expertise into consultation responses and thought leadership through analysing and interpreting information;

• Supporting projects or workstreams for a variety of energy industry projects;

• Supporting the drafting of tender responses and providing technical input;

• Networking and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders in the energy industry to strengthen Gemserv's position as knowledge expert;

• Developing and maintaining effective relationships with current and potential client contacts; and

• Operating and delivering within budget and timescale parameters, ideally applying project management methodology.

Requirements

knowledge of the Energy sector which can include one or more of the following:

  • Markets - market structures, policy, regulations and arrangements.
  • Metering - smart metering, preferably with a level of technical understanding.
  • Regulation - applying relevant regulations, codes and standards to compliance, assurance and/or audit activities; and
  • Net zero - energy industry developments towards Net Zero, particularly in relation to Flexible markets, new fuel sources and their applications, and low carbon technologies.

 • Consulting experience or a passion to develop in this area supported by a demonstrable track record in project delivery;

• Experience of managing workload and multiple priorities to meet deadlines, ideally through project management methodologies;

• Experience in building and managing client and stakeholder relationships, including key internal and external stakeholders;

• Organisational and planning skills and attention to detail in high-pressure and tight deadline driven environments;

• Excellent, relevant and timely written and verbal communication skills;

• Ability to anticipate and address problems at an early stage;

• Understanding of operating in a commercial environment, such as having the ability to propose “add-on” business opportunities and identify and manage risks to project delivery; and

• Ability to develop strategies to influence agendas and raise Gemserv’s profile.
